Dear Friends of Golden Sunbeams
Lately we’ve been hearing of more and more break-ins: unfortunately even we have been affected: our kindergarten Sikuthale Pre-School in Asanda Village reported a break-in – with very expensive consequences.
The burglars gained access by first breaking the locks on the entrance gate. Then they took apart the toilet cistern to steal the technology and dismantled the copper pipe of the basin outside, allowing water to flow out unhindered and flooding the rooms and the outside area.

When Muriel the principal arrived at the Pre-School in the early morning of October 16, 2024, a small lake had already formed outside, as the water had been able to flow outside unhindered for hours. Only then did she notice the wanton destruction in the other rooms.

The kitchen door had been broken open, the microwave, the kettle, the gas bottle, all the pots and pans and the sink tap were missing. Not only had the entire contents of the fridge been stolen, but individual metal parts at the back of it had also been stolen, and so the fridge had been destroyed and could not be repaired. Plates, cups and dishes for the children were also stolen.

We immediately commissioned one of our workers to secure the main entrance and the kitchen with additional security and grille gates and locks.

In future, the hatch from the kitchen to the classrooms will also be secured by a grille.

The main entrance door to the kindergarten had to be replaced. A trellidor was also installed.
The toilet flushing systems, the basin outside and the kitchen sinks were also repaired promptly.

Only when all safety precautions had been taken, did we replace the microwave, kettle, refrigerator and gas bottle.

Abigail, the kindergarten teacher at Sikuthale, was very pleased to receive her new kettle.

And this is the scene when two kindergarten teachers are satisfied with their new kitchen appliances, in this case a refrigerator and a microwave, which had just been delivered.
Now to destruction of a different kind: at Great Beginning, the textile sunroof was destroyed as a result of the last storm. We will repair this shortly.
