Dear Friends of Golden Sunbeams
Around 100 little girls and boys from the Sikuthale Pre-Primary School were open-mouthed and open-eyed with amazement and disbelief, as none other than Santa Claus himself brought them bulging Christmas bags with little treats and beautiful paintings and toys. The excitement on the morning of December 3rd in the township of Asanda Village was simply indescribable …

One day later, on December 4th, the “Graduation Party” took place in our Kindergarten Helderberg Golden Sunbeam: The children celebrated their pre-school graduation together with their parents and kindergarten teachers and received their certificates. An exciting moment in the life of the little ones as they say goodbye to their kindergartens to go to school at the beginning of the new year. The festive ceremony at the end of this phase of life takes place in December, the end of our school year, in almost all of our kindergartens.

On December 9th, the time had finally come again and 100 children from our kindergartens Helderberg Golden Sunbeam and Bridge Park Edu-Care “stormed” the Mondeor Restaurant in Somerset West.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the garden, pool, bouncy castle and playground were fully in the hands of our little tots. They had a lot of fun playing, romping and splashing around.

The pizza was so delicious this year that the pizza maker couldn’t keep up with the baking. And the boys and girls liked to queue twice for the delicious ice cream at the end …

After everyone had satisfied their hunger and thirst and was full and satisfied, Santa Claus came to visit, supported by loud Christmas music. The excitement and joy were great and all the children tried to catch some of the candy that Santa Claus threw into the crowd.

Patricia van der Westhuizen (www.travel2volunteer.co.za) came with all the volunteers to celebrate with the children.

An absolute highlight here too: the large Christmas bag with toys and sweets that each child received when they said goodbye before they took the bus back to the township of Macassar.

Since we were only able to celebrate Christmas with three of our seventeen kindergartens, we paid out a “Christmas bonus” to almost all other kindergartens at the beginning of December, with which the kindergarten teachers can arrange a little surprise for their protégés for Christmas.

At this point we would like to thank you, our supporters and sponsors once again, also on behalf of our children and kindergarten teachers! It was only with your help that we were able to implement the many small and large projects, without your help none of this would otherwise have been possible! Many of you have supported us with individual donations, many with permanent and earmarked donations. We are very, very grateful for every donation and assure you that every cent goes where it is most needed: to our children in kindergartens.
With all our hearts we wish you a merry and happy Christmas, health and well-being and a happy new year!
Britta & Bernd
